Split large planet bitmap into several tiles for LOD levels.

I am working on my space flight simulator and looking for global terrain mapping files. I will use initial terrain mapping at 30m or less (up to LOD level 11) at this time and select small area for higher resolution like street level. Does anyone know any tools that would divide very large bitmap or mapped images (Landsat, etc) (in megabytes/gigabytes) into several 512x512 bitmap tiles in cylindrical or cubemap coordinates at each LOD levels from global to street level?

I calculated resolution at each LOD level for cylindrical coordinates and here are results. Start with LOD level 0 at two western/eastern hemisphere bitmap tiles since earth circumference is 40,007.863 km. I found LOD level 16 and above as street level.

Level 0 resolution 39070.178711 (39 km)
Level 1 resolution 19535.089355 (20 km)
Level 2 resolution 9767.544678 (10 km)
Level 3 resolution 4883.772339 (5 km)
Level 4 resolution 2441.886169 (2.5 km)
Level 5 resolution 1220.943085 (1.25 km)
Level 6 resolution 610.471542 (600 m)
Level 7 resolution 305.235771 (300 m)
Level 8 resolution 152.617886 (150 m)
Level 9 resolution 76.308943 (75 m)
Level 10 resolution 38.154471 (38 m)
Level 11 resolution 19.077236 (19 m)
Level 12 resolution 9.538618 (10 m)
Level 13 resolution 4.769309 (5 m)
Level 14 resolution 2.384654 (2.5 m)
Level 15 resolution 1.192327 1.25 m)
Level 16 resolution 0.596164 (60 cm)
Level 17 resolution 0.298082 (30 cm)
Level 18 resolution 0.149041 (15 cm)
Level 19 resolution 0.074520 (7 cm)

Thanks,
Tim
