Yeah, so my computer seems to have lost track of my DVD drive.

I have a new laptop. I couldn't play DVD's in anything except VLC because, apparently, my DVD player's region code was set to 2. So I heard that DVD Shrink could change my region code, so when I started it up it told me I could change my region code to 1 and that I could change it four times after that. So I hit OK, and now my DVD drive doesn't work at all. It spins, but my computer gives me no indication that it nows there's even a drive attached. Did it think I was pirating movies and self destruct or something? EDIT: Oh, I forgot we had a hardware forum.

Off it goes. Say bye bye to the Lounge, thread! Bye, bye, Lounge!
Well anyway, it got better. Even though restarting doesn't fix it, putting it to sleep does.

Additionally, the region code changed successfully, too.

I'm actually almost certain it was a copy protection feature of some sort, which is kind of interesting, really.
