2nd China (Beijing) International Student Animation Festival Call for Entries

Especially Game Design Product China (Beijing) International Student Animation Festival is approved by The State Administration of Radio Film and Television of the People’s Republic of China (SARFT, PRC), supported by Association of International Animated Film(ASIFA), Physical, Hygiene and Arts education Department, Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, China Communist Youth League Committee School Department, and China Animation Association, organized by Communication University of China (CUC), and undertaken by Animation School of CUC. The aim of this event is to inspire young animators and filmmakers among university students. 1. Schedule  Submission: July 20 ~ Sept. 5, 2007  Festival:Sept. 21 ~ Sept. 24, 2007 2. Entry Categories [Aniwow! 2007] Awards have 5 categories. Participants should indicate which category to apply for.  Award Settings:Certificates and trophy for award winners. 10,000 RMB for White Poplar Award, 3,000RMB for other awards, except ASIFA China Award and SIGGRAPH China Award.  Award Announcement:Candidate lists will be released on official website after first round judgment. Final lists will be announced at Awarding ceremony on Sept. 24. All nominators will be invited to the ceremony held in Beijing. A. Animation:  White Poplar Award  ASIFA China Award  Best Directing  Best Screenplay  Best Art Design  Best Original Music B. VFX: This section requires the submitted films using digital composition technology to realize visual special effect in short feature films, motion graphics designs, etc.  SIGGRAPH China Award  Best Digital Short Film  Best Motion Graphics Design C. Multi-media Art Online: This section contains interactive animation, interactive advertising, E-journal, etc.  Best Multi-media Art Online D. Game Design: This section contains PC game, cell phone game, etc.  Best Game Design E. Comic Art: This section requires a complete story represented by comic art.  Best Comic Art 3. Requirements  No registration fee.  Submitted college students’ works must be finished during Jan. 1, 2006 to Sept. 1, 2007, without any restriction on disciplines. (Graduation work is applicable).  Each work should be finished by the author with full copyright. The author/artist will be responsible for all legal issues. Co-produced works could be submitted with the permission of all the other team members.  All content must be not against the law in China. And it is strongly prohibited that your works copy or imitate others. If you use other people’s work, please indicate the copyright, otherwise the festival has the right to cancel your qualification of participating in the competition. Besides, if there is any negative influence on the competition, the festival will declare the legal responsibility of the related.  Productions could be registered either by individual or by team. But one participant only can send 5 productions maximum. Please indicate whether your productions have already been published before. 4. Guidelines  Only registration online will be accepted. A registration number will be generated automatically by the online system after a successful application, for one work. And a piece of confirmation letter will be sent to the email address given during the registration.  Registration number can be used as your file name when uploading your work.  There are two ways of submission: uploading online and posting a DVD. The entrant can choose one available way depends on the file size of the work and the connection speed of the Internet. If the file size of the work is above 50 MB, the entrant needs to post the DVD because the uploading may be interrupted by transmitting errors.  Please name your work in this way: “ID Number_ Name _Work Title”, for the convenience of ordering and categorizing. Sample: John Smith’s work titled Welcome to My World (ID Number: B12345),should be named: B12345_JohnSmith_WelcomeToMyWorld.  Animation and VFX works are recommended in formats of Flash, MOV or AVI using DIVX 5.0 plug-in to compress (Plug-in is available on our website). Resolution should be no less than 640×480.  Formats of comic works should be TIFF or PSD only, and resolution should be no less than 300dpi. 5. Copyrights explanations The Animator should provide the factual information and identification. Although the festival cannot check the information authenticity strictly, the festival will block any participants with false information during the festival.  The work refers to the Animation or Comic work that is made by the animator following the stated way, no matter whether it will get a prize; the animator will have the copyright according to the Copyright Law of the People’s Republic of China.  Publicity refers to publish the work in public according to the stated range. All the published work cannot be backspaced or deleted unless there is special situation.  The festival will reject the work below:  Against the law of China.  Instigate the ethnic hatred, ethnic discrimination, destroy the ethnic unify.  Insult or slander others, trespass others’ legal rights.  Other content which the law has banned.  For the sake of respecting the copyright, and protect the legal right of the animator, all participants should agree the declaration below: I have read and I agree to abide by such rules and regulations announced by [Aniwow! 2007] China (Beijing) International Student Animation Festival Committee. I hereby certify that I own the copyright of the submitted works. I agree to give authorization to the [Aniwow! 2007] in screening, broadcasting, exhibiting, publishing and publicizing my works for promotional purposes. No contribution fees will be paid to me.  All the work would not be sent back in principle, and the participants should keep the original edition.  About plagiarism:  Plagiarism is defined as knowingly presenting the work or property of another person as if it were one’s own.  The festival doesn’t have sufficient ability to investigate plagiarism. However, if there is any plagiarized work being founded, the festival has the obligation to cancel the qualification of the participant. The festival will not undertake any responsibility for plagiarism at other places, and all the legal responsibilities will be undertaken by plagiarist himself.  The festival has the obligation to provide the background information of any person who might have done plagiarism when the judiciary or the copyright owner require.  Works of participant will be accepted as far as they agree to the conditions above. The festival will not undertake the responsibility of breaching of faith or other legal responsibilities, including not undertaking the responsibility of compensating to the participant who has been canceled the qualification by the festival because of not accepting the charge of infringement. The festival has the explanation right for all the information above. Anything that goes against the Law of the People’s Republic of China will follow the law.
