Anyone know where i can get a free 3d modeler that can produce .x files or something to easily convert to .x files ?

A lot of modelers can export to 3DS files, and the DX SDK comes with a program that can convert those to .x files (it's under mssdk/bin/dxutils/xfiles/conv3ds.exe.) So, find a free modeler, like MilkShape, and export to .3DS, and then use Conv3DS to convert it to a .x. There ya go!
