I've been making this gas station all day long, I think it's looking pretty good. I've also been adding animated flocks of birds, and news choppers which will be used as a camera angle.
And it's looking great. The only possible way it could look better is if you could smash large parts of the environment (like the windows in the background, or the gas pumps, or the sign).
Man, I've been looking on your project for some time and I'm speechless. I have 2 questions:
1)How did you manage to get a publishing deal? Have you released any other games or is this your first?
2)Are you planning to continue doing everything by yourself-graphics,physics,AI,gameplay,map designing,modelling,texturing... I can't even begin to imagine how's that possible for a game of such complexity.
This is my first commercial release. I'v been making freeware games and releasing them through my website for about 4-5 years. This game was originally freeware, I released 2 versions on the 'net before I signed a publishing deal.
I just e-mailed some publishers to see if it would be possible to publish the game (about 8 months ago before it looked anything like this) and they got back to me within in a few days with a yes or no pretty much.
I think I'm going to keep doing it all myself I have so much fun working with this game, since I'm taking time off sschool until the game's published I have a ton of time to add everything I want into it.
There's a good chance that I can't use that logo, I'm talking to my publisher about it now...to save trouble I'll probably just replace it with a fake logo.
I'm shooting to stay around 15k for the entire game. At the moment I've spent about 12k on the game...which I guess by industry standards is pretty cheap :-) I don't even want to think about how much it would cost if I was getting paid a programmer's hourly salary for all the time I've spent on this thing lol.
Strategy First should have FPQA whose responsibilities include checking for and reporting legal issues. Keep track of all the in-game logos and likenesses.
Otherwise, it's looking really good.
