I have definitely got to get in on some of that action.

I'm quite happy with my Asus-built 12" Powerbook. I'd also recommend looking at a Macbook: despite what Michalson may say they are wonderful machines, especially because of OS X and the AppleCare warranty, which has saved my ass a lot of times.
Apparently Apple is to replace the iBook with an Intel widescreen version this month; I don't know if it will be a super high performer (probably not) but it'll be at least cheaper than the MBP.

Y'know, as much as I'd love to get a Macbook Pro, I just can't do it. It's too damn expensive. Honestly, the W2JB is basically a comparable box to the 17" Core Duo MBP, for $500 less - and I won't have to mess with buying an extra XP license and setting up Boot Camp to be able to do Real Work for my job.
I'm well-to-do enough that I can afford some really sweet tech toys, but I'm not so overburdened with cash that $700 is easy to ignore. On top of that is the fact that I pretty much can't stand the Apple side of MacOS and would essentially use it like a Unix machine as much as possible; at that point I may as well dual-boot a W2JB to Linux and put a nice theme on it.
Frankly, as cool as it'd be to have a MBP, Apple just isn't relevant to me at this point. I want some of that sexiness to call my own - really I do - but it just isn't going to happen. Not in this hardware generation.
